Big news for downtown Winnipeg! The federal government is investing over $21 million in upgrades for the Neeginan Centre.
This funding will enhance safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency in this historic building. With these improvements, the centre will continue supporting Indigenous Peoples' educational, social, and economic needs for years to come. It's a fantastic boost for our community!
Crafting for a Cure Brings Smiles to Hospitalized Kids
Charles Lefebvre from CTV News reported: Volunteers gathered to support Crafting for a Cure, creating fun craft kits for kids in hospitals.
Founder Pamela Bielak emphasized the power of a simple distraction to bring joy to children during their hospital stays. This year’s kits even had an Olympic theme, letting kids draw flags and write letters to their heroes. The event’s goal was to make 600 kits, ensuring many smiles ahead!
Exciting Player Moves for the Winnipeg Jets

This season is shaping up to be an interesting one for the Winnipeg Jets. With Eric Comrie returning as a goalie and the addition of Kaapo Kahkonen, the team is strengthening its lineup.
Veteran defenceman Colin Miller has also re-signed, bringing valuable experience to the blue line. Although we lost a few players to free agency, the new additions and re-signings promise a dynamic season. Let’s see how these moves play out on the ice!
Winnipeg’s Natural Boulevards Initiative
Devon McKendrick from CTV News reported: Winnipeg might soon see more pollinator-friendly plants along its boulevards. The City Centre Community Committee is proposing a 180-day pilot project to naturalize these areas.
This initiative aims to support endangered pollinators like the Rusty-patched bumble bee and reduce city maintenance costs. By embracing native plants and flowers, we can promote a healthier urban ecosystem. Stay tuned for more updates on this green initiative!
