Exciting Proposal: Little Forks National Park for Winnipeg
There's a buzz in Winnipeg about a new national urban park proposal called Little Forks. This park would celebrate the meeting of the Red, Seine, and Assiniboine rivers, covering 430 hectares—bigger than Vancouver's Stanley Park!
Anchored at Point Douglas, Little Forks would feature nature preserves, trails, and gathering spots, making it a green oasis for the city. The project, led by urban planner Jean Trottier, aims to restore former industrial lands, adding 85,000 trees.
Although the proposal requires acquiring land and long-term restoration, the community-driven effort is gaining momentum. Stay tuned for updates on this transformative project for Winnipeg!

What's Happening in Winnipeg?
Taco Week and Margarita Madness:
Foodies, it’s time to celebrate! Taco Week and Margarita Madness are back from today till June 9. Indulge in mouth-watering tacos and refreshing margaritas at various local spots, with $1 from every sale supporting local charities. Treat yourself and do some good for the community—it's a win-win!
Winnipeg WAV Success:
Great news for those needing wheelchair-accessible rides! The Winnipeg WAV pilot program has drastically reduced wait times and increased service quality.
Last year, they tripled the number of trips, and they're on track to hit over 20,000 trips this year. With most passengers picked up in under 20 minutes, this service is a big win for accessibility in our city.
West Kildonan Library Upgrades:
Source: City of Winnipeg
The West Kildonan Library is getting a much-needed facelift, but it’s going to cost between $6 million and $11 million.
City council decided to save the 57-year-old library from demolition, and now are exploring options to upgrade the facility. Whether it’s basic repairs or a full-on renovation, the goal is to keep this beloved community resource running for years to come.
