With cold drinks. Live music. And delicious food. This is the perfect way to end a Winnipeg summer. The Heart of the City Music Festival is here. August 16-17.

With the city coming together for one last summer celebration in the heart of downtown. This festival will have:

  • Local folk and indie artists (Neighbor Andy & Apollo Suns)

  • Outdoor Bars & more!

The kind of night you talk about long after summer’s gone.

We’ll be there too. Hanging out, meeting the community and celebrating what makes Winnipeg, well, Winnipeg.

And for $20? You’re in. Two nights of music, food, and everything that makes this city feel like home.

So, come join us. And let’s make these last summer nights count!

What's Happening in Winnipeg?

City Updates:

West Nile Fogging Program Starts Tonight

At 9:30 p.m., the city will begin a targeted fogging program to reduce the numbers of mosquitoes that can carry West Nile Virus. Areas like Bridgwater Lakes, Linden Ridge, and Riverbend are on the list, so if you live there, you might want to plan to stay indoors while the trucks do their work.

The city is making sure to tackle these high-risk areas to keep everyone safe as summer winds down. You can check the daily schedule online to see when fogging will happen in your neighborhood. It’s a necessary step to protect our community’s health, so let’s stay informed and take the usual precautions like wearing bug spray if you’re out in the evenings.

Filmed in familiar spots like Portage Place and the legislative building, the show brings a slice of Winnipeg to the screen. It’s a comedy that’s packed with laughs, but it also has those moments that hit home. This show is something special for us locals—whether you recognize the locations or just connect with the story, it’s a must-watch.

Winnipeg’s own Skylar Park has brought home an Olympic bronze medal in taekwondo! Competing in the 57kg category, Skylar fought through a tough day, bouncing back after a quarterfinal loss to secure her spot on the podium.

This win isn’t just a personal win for Skylar—it’s a proud moment for all of us here in Winnipeg. Let’s celebrate her incredible achievement and the way she’s put our city on the world stage once again.

Business:

Pharmacy Celebrates 65 Years on Ness Avenue

Braithwhite’s Pharmacy just marked its 65th anniversary on Ness Avenue, and they did it in style with a new mural unveiled on their building. As reported by CTV News, the mural, created by artist Jen Mosienko, celebrates the pharmacy’s long history, including nods to old remedies like a once-famous Hemorrhoid Cream.

It’s a reminder of how much local businesses contribute to the character and history of our neighborhoods. If you’re in the area, swing by to check out the mural and celebrate a piece of Winnipeg’s history.
