Midweek check-in, Winnipeg 💙
Well, that came out of nowhere. One minute, it was a normal Tuesday afternoon, and the next, the sky just opened up. Snow was still coming down while we were putting this edition together last night. March doing its thing, as usual.
If you're heading to work or stepping out today, take it slow.
Temperatures are expected to climb above zero for the next few days, which sounds nice until you remember what that does to the roads. Slushy, icy, and a little unpredictable, so give yourself some extra time out there.
Now, in today’s edition:

Meet Your New Favourite Coworker!

Source: City of Winnipeg
A new program in Winnipeg is giving workplaces a chance to welcome a very special kind of coworker: a shelter dog.
In case you missed it, Winnipeg Animal Services launched a Business Buddies program where local businesses can bring an adoptable dog into the office for a few hours or even a few days.
It’s a simple idea that brings big benefits for both people and pups.
Here’s how it works:
Businesses can host a shelter dog for an afternoon or up to a week
Up to four employees can help coordinate and participate
Dogs are matched based on your workplace environment and personality fit
All supplies are provided, making it easy to take part
The program helps dogs get a break from shelter life, meet new people, and feel more at ease outside the kennel environment.
At the same time, it’s a fun way to boost workplace morale and bring a little extra joy into the day.
If your office could use a furry pick-me-up, click the link below to see how you can inquire!

Manitoba Training 45 New ICU Nurses To Support Hospital Care
It’s no secret that Manitoba has been facing ongoing healthcare staffing shortages, especially in critical care.
To help address that, the province is training more nurses to step into these high-demand roles and support hospital teams across Manitoba.
Here’s what to know:
45 nurses will complete ICU training by April 23
A new group begins training on April 27
The program prepares nurses for ICUs and other critical care settings
These nurses will help strengthen staffing levels in hospitals, making it easier for teams to provide timely and safe care for patients.
While healthcare groups say there’s still more work to be done, this marks a meaningful step toward rebuilding and supporting Manitoba’s frontline workforce.

Help Kids With Disabilities Access the Support They Need
For many families in Manitoba, getting the right support for a child living with disabilities can be overwhelming.
Waitlists can be long, and essential equipment or therapy isn’t always covered.
That’s why Variety: the Children’s Charity of Manitoba exists.
For almost 50 years, Variety has helped children across Manitoba access life-changing equipment, therapies, and inclusive programs that build confidence and independence.
Last year alone, more than 3,000 children and families received support.
If you’d like to help, Variety’s Illumination Ball is coming up April 29 at the RBC Convention Centre, an evening dedicated to supporting Manitoba children living with disabilities.
One night can help open new possibilities for kids across our province.
