Manitoba Invests $1.3M to Expand MoveMobility, Creating Jobs

MoveMobility, a company that makes wheelchair-accessible vehicles and mobile medical vans, just got a $1.3 million grant from the Manitoba government to help build a new 60,000-square-foot facility at CentrePort.

For those who don’t know, CentrePort is a major trade and transportation hub where companies can easily ship their products across Canada and beyond.

With this new facility, MoveMobility will also start manufacturing ambulances, which is especially important given the current shortage. On top of that, they’re adding 55 new jobs to the 55 they already have, which is great news for the local job market. It’s nice to see a Manitoba company growing and making a real difference, both by creating jobs and improving healthcare access.

Local Updates:

Manitoba Rolls Out Universal School Nutrition Program

With $30 million invested, every school is now offering nutritious meals and snacks, making sure kids can focus and succeed. This is especially helpful in communities with limited food access.

Schools are setting up spaces for meal distribution so students can grab what they need to stay energized throughout the day. It’s a huge win for families, knowing their kids are well-fed and ready to learn. Keep an eye out for these changes and spread the word to those who could benefit!

Goldeyes Drop Playoff Opener, But There’s Still Hope!

Source: Winnipeg Goldeyes

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are down 1-0 in their playoff series after a tough loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries, but there’s still hope! Game 2 is today at Blue Cross Park, and the team needs the community’s support. Let’s fill those seats and cheer them on—they’re fighting for their first championship since 2017. It’s a perfect chance to spend a fun evening with family or friends, enjoying local baseball and backing our home team!

Six Bear Cubs Spotted in Manitoba—Stay Safe!

As reported by CTV News, a Manitoba resident recently spotted six bear cubs and their mom in Thalberg. While it might sound cute, it’s a good reminder for the community to stay safe. If you’re in an area with bear sightings, don’t approach them, even if they look harmless.

It’s best to admire them from a distance and let them find their way back into the wild. Bears are part of Manitoba’s natural beauty, but safety comes first. Keep an eye out if you’re in the area, and be bear aware!

City Development:

New Costco in Winnipeg!

As reported by the Winnipeg Free Press, construction has officially started on the new Costco at 4077 Portage Ave. For those in the area, this means more convenience and fewer long drives to other locations. It’s going to be a game changer for the west side of the city, especially for families looking to shop in bulk without the usual crowds. The new store is part of a larger development at Westport, and once it’s open, it’ll offer a gas bar too. It’s exciting to see more growth in the community!
