A Splash of Color for Mayfair's Basketball Court! 🎨

Exciting news for Winnipeg's basketball community! The court at Mayfair Recreation Centre, located at Donald Street and River Avenue, is getting a vibrant makeover. Thanks to the non-profit Buckets and Borders, with generous help from the Winnipeg Sea Bears, the new colorful surface is almost complete.

This project is more than just a fresh coat of paint; it's a celebration of our growing basketball community. The revitalized court will be a hub for local players to come together, have fun, and showcase their skills. What's even more amazing is that all proceeds from the Sea Bears Cambrian Credit Union 50/50 draw this season are funding more projects like this through Buckets and Borders. So, be on the lookout for more exciting initiatives throughout the year!

Swing by and check out the transformation – it's a slam dunk for our city! 🏀💙

What's Happening in Winnipeg?

A Sky-High Celebration for a Local Hero!

Source: Canada.ca

As reported by Devon McKendrick from CTV News: Winnipeg pulled out all the stops for Richard Earl’s 100th birthday!

This local hero, a former radio operator during WWII and an original member of the 435 Transport and Rescue Squadron, was honored with a special flyover by a CC-130H Hercules.

The Royal Canadian Air Force made sure this day was unforgettable. It’s so important to celebrate our local heroes who have given so much. This event, which also marks the RCAF's 100th anniversary, was a touching tribute to Earl and all he’s done for our country.

A Big Thanks to Our Firefighters!

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) had a busy night, showing just how dedicated they are to our safety.

They performed a heroic water rescue on the Assiniboine River, saving an individual drifting with the current. Later in the same night, tackling a fire in a vacant house on Alfred Avenue, quickly bringing it under control. We're incredibly thankful for our firefighters' bravery and quick action. They truly are everyday heroes, keeping our community safe!
