New Tech to Keep Winnipeg Sidewalks Safe
Have you seen those new quads rolling around on our sidewalks? Don’t worry, it’s not some robot invasion – it’s the City’s latest way to keep our sidewalks in tip-top shape.
These gadgets are checking out every bump, crack, and slope across 3,200 km of sidewalks and pathways. Why? To make sure everyone, whether you’re walking, pushing a stroller, or using a wheelchair, can get around safely.
The City’s using this data to plan for the future. By knowing exactly what condition our sidewalks are in, they can prioritize repairs and upgrades, making sure funding goes where it’s needed most. This is a big step toward safer, more accessible sidewalks for everyone in Winnipeg.
And the best part? The City’s committed to doing this every few years to keep our paths in top shape. So, when you see those machines, just know they’re here to help us all get around a little easier.

Whether you’re in the mood for a rich espresso, a glass of fine wine, or just a tasty snack to go with it, Rose Coffee and Wine has you covered. It’s not just about the drinks; it’s about the experience. So next time you’re in the area, step in and treat yourself to a little elegance in the heart of the city.
What's Happening in Winnipeg?
Local Updates:
New Tunngasugit Inuit Resource Centre
As reported by CBC News, Tunngasugit just moved into a much bigger spot on Selkirk Avenue, and it’s a game-changer for Winnipeg’s Inuit community.
This new space is all about making sure everyone feels at home and supported. Whether it’s finding help with housing, jobs or just dropping in for a chat, this center is a place where community comes first.
They’ve even got workshops lined up for traditional crafts and language programs, which means it’s not just about services – it’s about reconnecting with culture and each other. If you or someone you know could use a space like this, it’s worth checking out.
Hydration Stations Ready for the Heat
With the heat cranking up, staying cool is top of mind. The City has set up hydration stations around Winnipeg so you can grab a drink of water when you need it most. It’s a simple but solid way to make sure everyone stays hydrated during these hot days. Here’s where you can find them:
470 Selkirk Ave. (The Bell Tower)
185 Young St. (Broadway Neighbourhood Centre)
Southwest corner of Stella Avenue and Main Street (near Mount Carmel Clinic)
Northeast corner of Princess Street and Henry Avenue (near Siloam Mission)
Southeast corner of Roslyn Road and Osborne Street
369 Furby St. (near Agape Table)
Southeast corner of Maryland Street and Ellice Avenue (near Spence Neighbourhood Association)
190 Disraeli Freeway (near N’Dinawemak)
And if you’re feeling the heat too much, remember you can always pop into a leisure centre or library to cool down. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference in keeping our community comfortable and safe.
New Community Centre in Lorette Brings People Together
We don’t usually cover news outside of Winnipeg, but this one’s worth it. The Manitoba government just announced $5 million to build a new community center in Lorette, and it’s going to be a place where people come together.
Whether it’s for skating, library time, or just catching up with friends, this new hub is set to become a big part of life in the RM of Taché. It’s not just a building; it’s a space where families can connect, kids can play, and memories can be made. This investment is all about supporting community life and making sure everyone has a place to belong. Looking forward to seeing it all come together!

Blue Bombers’ Last-Second Win Thrills Fans
Source: Blue Bombers X
If you missed the Bombers game, you missed a wild finish. They managed to pull off a last-second win against the Ticats, and now they’re tied for second in the West. It wasn’t easy – they gave up a lead but showed real grit to come back and seal the deal. For fans, it’s moments like this that make following the team so exciting. It’s not just about the win; it’s about how they pulled it off.
Goldeyes Clinch Playoff Spot, Excitement Builds
On the other end, The Goldeyes also just secured their spot in the playoffs with a big win over Kansas City.
Knowing the team is heading to the postseason adds a buzz around the city and gives fans something to rally behind. With a winning record locked in, the Goldeyes are showing they’ve still got what it takes to make a run. Get ready for some exciting baseball as they head back home for the final stretch!
