Snowfall Warning in Effect for Winnipeg / Southern Manitoba

Source: City of Winnipeg
If you’re reading this before heading out the door this morning, here’s your reminder.
Heavy snow began moving into southern Manitoba last night, and it’s expected to continue through today and into tomorrow.
Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Winnipeg and surrounding communities, with steady snow pushing through the province starting Tuesday evening.
Here’s what to expect:
15 to 25 cm of snow in Winnipeg and surrounding areas
Up to 30 cm possible along the Manitoba escarpment and Parklands region
Blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially in southwestern Manitoba
With this amount of snow, there’s a strong chance of slippery roads, possible closures, reduced visibility, and even power outages, so it’s important to plan accordingly.
Conditions are expected to keep changing, no matter when you’re reading this. Snow clearing and road conditions can shift quickly throughout the day.
So before you head out, take a quick look at the latest weather conditions so you know what to expect in your area. Snowfall amounts, wind, and temperature shifts can all make a difference in how your commute feels.

City Updates
New Off-Leash Dog Park is Coming to Bridgwater This Summer

Source: Janice Lukes
Dog owners in the south end of the city have something new to look forward to.
A new fenced off-leash dog park is planned for Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park at 360 Appleford Gate, and it’s expected to open by mid-summer.
The park will be built at the north end of the greenspace and will be about one acre in size, giving pups plenty of room to run.
Here’s what’s planned:
Fully fenced enclosure so dogs can roam safely
Benches and trees for shade and seating
Logs and natural features for dogs to climb and play on
Multiple garbage bins to help keep the space clean
Right now, Winnipeg has 15 off leash dog parks, and many families in this area have to drive to get to one. This new park will make it easier to head out for a quick walk without leaving the neighbourhood.
Beyond giving dogs space to run, these parks often turn into casual meeting spots where neighbours connect. It’s a small addition, but one that makes everyday life a little easier for local families.
