$7M Loss to the City - Downtown Housing

Source: City of Winnipeg

The city is making a big effort to energize downtown, waiving nearly $7 million in building fees over the next three years.

These fee waivers, which cover costs like building permits, design reviews, and the loss of on-street parking during construction, aim to make it easier and cheaper for developers to bring new condos and apartments to the heart of the city.

With the CentrePlan 2050 framework, the goal is to attract more residents and breathe new life into downtown. Curious about how this will shape our city’s future? Here’s the full plan!
