Live Feeds Boost Safety on Winnipeg Buses

Great news for Winnipeg commuters! All 607 Winnipeg Transit buses now have live-streaming video feeds that can be instantly accessed by transit supervisors during emergencies.

This upgrade follows a successful three-year pilot program. With just the push of a button, drivers can send real-time video to the control center, helping ensure quick and appropriate responses from transit supervisors, police, or paramedics.

Major Route 90 Overhaul Costs $737 Million

The City is set to invest $737 million into the long-awaited reconstruction of Route 90. This project includes:

• Widening Kenaston Boulevard

• Rebuilding the St. James bridges over the Assiniboine River

• and replacing combined sewers along the route.

The high cost covers both construction and interest, with the city needing to acquire 78 private properties and secure additional land from the federal defense department.

Despite some differing opinions, the project aims to enhance traffic flow, improve safety, and provide long-term fiscal and environmental benefits by reducing congestion and supporting the Naawi-Oodena redevelopment.

Sea Bears Secure Thrilling Win:

The Winnipeg Sea Bears are on fire! Thanks to Teddy Allen's 30-point performance, the Sea Bears held off the Brampton Honey Badgers for a nail-biting 92-90 victory. Allen, the 2023 CEBL MVP scored the game-winning basket marking this their third consecutive win.

Krispy Kreme Grand Opening:

Krispy Kreme is finally opening its doors on June 18 at the new Sterling Lyon Parkway location.

The grand opening will feature a series of exciting activities, including golden tickets redeemable for a free dozen doughnuts every month for a year. The first person in line will also get to turn on the famous Hot Light and win a golden ticket.

Everyone who visits on opening day will receive a free glazed doughnut and a chance to snag some Krispy Kreme merch.

Activate Games Opening 30 New Locations:

Winnipeg’s own Activate Games is making big moves! The company is expanding its active gaming experience to the UK and Ireland with 30 new stores.

This expansion follows their success across North America. With plans to open 20 more stores in the U.S. and Canada this year and 70 stores globally in the next decade.
