New Medical Clinic Open Until Midnight!
As of Oct. 23, northeast Winnipeggers now have a new option for after-hours health care at Concordia Hospital. Whether it’s a scraped knee, a quick check-up, or a prescription renewal, the new Extended Hours Primary Care Clinic is here to make sure you get the care you need when life doesn’t stick to a 9-to-5 schedule.
With family doctors and nurses ready to treat everything from common colds to managing ongoing health conditions, this clinic brings care closer to home without breaking the bank. It’s open from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays and 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekends, plus special hours during the holidays. It’s a huge win for folks who can’t wait for regular office hours.
The best part? It’s free for Manitobans. With 560 patients already benefiting from a similar clinic at Grace Hospital, Concordia’s new clinic is huge for families on the northeast side of the city!
Yard Waste Collection Season Wraps Up
The 2024 curbside yard waste collection season is wrapping up in the next two weeks. If you still have some yard work left to do, now’s the time to get your yard waste ready!
Residents can use the following for yard waste:
Reusable containers without a lid (plastic tubs, old blue boxes, etc.)
Cardboard boxes
Paper yard waste bags
Bonus tip: Halloween pumpkins are accepted as part of the yard waste collection program and at the new food waste drop-off stations, as long as the candles and decorations are removed.
Remember, putting yard waste directly on the street can cause drainage issues and increase the risk of basement flooding. If you miss the final collection dates, you can also drop your yard waste at:
1825 Brady Rd.
1120 Pacific Ave.
429 Panet Rd.
Local Community
Retail Theft Down, Thanks to the City's Extra Effort
If you own a small business in Winnipeg, you’ve probably felt the pinch of retail theft. The good news? The Manitoba government is extending its retail theft initiative through the holiday season, and business owners are already seeing a drop in crime.
As reported by CTV News, With 12 fresh officers straight out of the academy and additional support, more eyes are on Osborne Village, the West End, and downtown. Business owners have been asking for this, and it’s making a difference. It’s a huge relief, especially during the holiday rush when theft usually spikes.
But, let’s also do our part and make this holiday season all about supporting locals. If you see any theft happening, be sure to report it right away and help keep our community safe!
More Liquor Stores in Grocery Store
As reported by Global News, The Manitoba government is also looking at expanding liquor sales in grocery stores with new public liquor kiosks popping up in six new locations. These spots will be similar to the ones you’ve probably seen in some of the Superstores, making it even more convenient to grab your favorite drinks while doing your grocery shopping.
This could mean fewer trips and more access for those living in areas not close to full-sized Liquor Marts. It’s a move aimed at giving folks more options without making the trek across town.

Jets Flying High with 6-0 Start!
Source: NHL Network
Jets fans, this is the moment we’ve been waiting for! Winnipeg’s 6-0 start to the season is officially the best in franchise history, and the energy is electric. Tuesday’s win against the Blues wasn’t just any win—it was a statement, led by Cole Perfetti’s three assists. The Jets are showing the league they’re a force to be reckoned with.
Six straight wins, and we’re just getting started. The team’s chemistry on the ice is next-level, and the city’s buzzing with excitement. Could this be the season we’ve been dreaming about? With the way they’re playing, it sure feels like it. By the time you’re reading this, they will have finished facing off against the Seattle Kraken, so hopefully, we’re sitting at 7-0!
Brady Oliveira: The Heart of the Bombers’ Success
If you’ve been following the Bombers this season, you know it’s all about Brady Oliveira. The hometown hero has been named the team’s Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian for the second straight season, and it’s easy to see why. Oliveira’s racked up 1,318 rushing yards, and he’s leading the CFL in yards from scrimmage.
His hard work on the field is paying off, and with just one game left in the regular season, Oliveira is on track to win his second league rushing title. This guy is putting Winnipeg on the map, and we’re here for it.
Other Bombers taking home awards include:
Tyrell Ford: Most Outstanding Defensive Player
Stanley Bryant: Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
Sergio Castillo: Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
Ontaria Wilson: Most Outstanding Rookie
