Winnipeg’s summer events calendar is quickly filling up.
After the Winnipeg Folk Fest shared its lineup last week, another major summer concert has now announced its performers.
The Burt Block Party is returning to downtown Winnipeg on August 13 to 16, bringing four nights of outdoor concerts right outside the Burton Cummings Theatre.
The annual event transforms the street outside the theatre into a large open-air concert space, welcoming thousands of fans each night for live music against the Winnipeg skyline.
Here’s the lineup announced so far:
August 13: Killswitch Engage
August 14: The Beaches, Lights, and LØLØ
August 15: Colin James and Streetheart
August 16: Collective Soul, 54.40, and Paul Langlois of The Tragically Hip
Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 13 at 10 a.m., with single-night tickets, two-day passes, and full festival passes available.
With summer festivals and concerts starting to stack up across the city, it’s shaping up to be another busy season for live music in Winnipeg.

A Message From Paris Cosmetology

An Affordable Way to Brighten Your Skin
If your skin has been feeling a little dull lately, you’re not alone.
Dry winter air.
Sun damage from past summers.
Fine lines that seem to show up overnight.
Most people want to fix it…
But they don’t want aggressive treatments or long recovery times.
That’s where Ultra LaseMD comes in.
Paris Cosmetology is now offering this gentle laser treatment that helps refresh your skin without going too deep or harsh.
It works by targeting things like:
Surface pigmentation and sun spots
Fine lines that are starting to show
Uneven tone and dull skin
And even the dryness that makes your skin look tired
The goal isn’t a dramatic overnight change.
It’s smoother texture, better hydration, and skin that simply looks healthier.
And right now they’re offering special intro pricing:
Around $250 for the treatment ($100 off for this month only!)
Or just $50 when added to another service
So if your skin could use a small refresh heading into spring, this is one of the easiest ways to start.

Manitoba Employers Required To Provide Free Menstrual Products In Workplaces

Source: Narcity
Manitoba is introducing a new rule that will require employers to provide free menstrual products in workplaces, helping ensure workers have access to basic necessities while on the job.
When the rule takes effect, Manitoba will become the first province in Canada to require this.
Here’s what the new rule means:
Employers must provide menstrual products like pads and tampons at no cost
Products must be available in workplace washrooms or another accessible location
The change will take effect in early August 2026, giving workplaces time to prepare
Supporters say the move helps recognize menstrual products as essential necessities, while also improving workplace equity and reducing stigma around periods.
For many workers, access to these products at work can make a meaningful difference in comfort, dignity, and day-to-day well-being on the job.

City Updates
Stronger Bus Shelters Coming To More Winnipeg Transit Stops

Source: City of Winnipeg
Winnipeg Transit says a new pilot project aimed at reducing vandalism at bus shelters is already showing encouraging results.
In fall 2025, the city installed damage-resistant polycarbonate panels at 22 transit shelters, focusing on locations that previously experienced frequent vandalism.
So far, the stronger material appears to be working.
Here’s what the early results show:
14 of the 22 shelters have not been vandalized at all
6 shelters had panels pushed out of their frames, but the panels were undamaged and simply reinstalled
These same shelters recorded 189 incidents of broken glass between 2021 and 2025
Unlike traditional safety glass, polycarbonate panels are flexible and highly impact-resistant. When hit, they can pop out of place instead of shattering, making them easier to reinstall and helping crews avoid costly replacements.
Because of the pilot’s success, Winnipeg Transit plans to install polycarbonate panels at more than 50 additional shelters by the end of 2026.
If the results continue, this could mean safer shelters for riders and lower repair costs across the city.
Construction Begins On New Kindergarten School In West St. Paul
Construction has officially begun on a new kindergarten to Grade 8 school in the Meadowlands development in West St. Paul.
The new school will be designed for 675 students initially, with space to expand to up to 800 students in the future.
The more than 82,000-square-foot facility will serve families in the growing Meadowlands area and nearby communities.
Here’s what the new school will include:
Modern classrooms, a gymnasium, and multipurpose learning areas
Specialized spaces for programs like human ecology and applied technology
An on-site child-care centre with 134 new child-care spaces
The building will also feature a geothermal energy system, helping reduce long-term operating costs and improve energy efficiency.
This project is part of Manitoba’s broader plan to build 11 new schools across the province, supporting growing communities and expanding access to education and child care.
