Winnipeg Releases Spring & Summer Leisure Guide

Source: City of Winnipeg
As winter slowly gives way to warmer days, it’s officially time to start thinking about spring and summer plans.
That’s why the City of Winnipeg just released its Spring/Summer 2026 Leisure Guide, giving residents a first look at hundreds of upcoming recreation programs, activities, and lessons available across the city.
The guide includes programs for all ages, including swimming lessons, skating programs, fitness classes, arts activities, and youth programs.
Here’s what to know:
Registration for all spring and summer activities (except for summer swimming), opens Tuesday, March 24 at 8 a.m. for Winnipeg residents
Non-residents can register starting Thursday, March 26 at 8 a.m.
Residents can register online, by calling 311, or in person at select locations
With so many activities available, it’s a great time to start planning how you and your family want to spend the warmer months ahead. So if you’re looking forward to summer and want to try something new, now’s a good time to take a look and start planning.

A Message from Paragon Living!

One of the Closest Apartments to U of M (Nearly Sold Out)
Finding a good student apartment near the University of Manitoba can feel like a race.
That’s why 939 Chancellor by Paragon Living has been filling up so quickly.
The building opened late last year in Waverley Heights, and it’s only five minutes from the University of Manitoba, which makes everyday life a lot easier for students.
Short commute to class.
Rapid transit nearby.
Multiple shopping hubs just minutes away.
Most of the remaining suites are two and three bedroom units, which makes them a great option for roommates who want more space than a typical student rental.
Here’s what residents get:
Modern interiors with quartz countertops and clean finishes
Free WiFi throughout the building
In-suite full size washer and dryer
High ceilings and large windows bringing in lots of natural light
Underground parking and private storage lockers
Shared outdoor patio space
So share this with all the university students you know or anyone heading there this year.
Apartments this close to campus don’t stay available for long.

A Perfect Day Exploring Osborne Village
If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a day in the city, Osborne Village is one of Winnipeg’s best neighbourhoods to explore.
It’s walkable, lively, and full of small shops, cafés, and restaurants, all within a few blocks of each other.
We recently spent a day in the Village visiting some of our favourite spots and discovering a few new ones along the way. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a coffee, browse a local shop, and stop for food all in the same afternoon.
Here are a few places we stopped by:
Small Mercies Coffee Co.
Crumb Queen
Urban Waves
Silver Lotus
Plus multiple more spots we highlight in the video.
There’s always something happening in Osborne Village, which is part of what makes it such a fun neighbourhood to explore.
So if you’re planning a fun day out in the city or looking for new local spots to try, click the link below to watch our video and check out all the places we visited.
Three Manitoba Friends Celebrate A $250,000 Lotto Win

Source: Lotto Spot
Sometimes a regular routine turns into something unforgettable.
That’s what happened for three longtime lottery partners from southern Manitoba, who are now celebrating a $250,000 EXTRA prize from the February 7 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
The group includes Kelly Rowsell and her mother Marilyn Webster from Niverville, along with their friend Judy Mager from Winnipeg. The trio has been buying tickets together for years.
Here’s how they discovered the surprise:
The ticket first scanned as a $250 prize on the Lotto Spot app
After scanning again, they realized it was actually $250,000
They confirmed the win at a store using the self scanner and terminal
Each friend already has plans for their share of the winnings, including a trip to Italy, visiting family in Newfoundland, and even buying a golf cart.

New Surgery Clinic Opens At Grace Hospital
Here’s some encouraging news for medical care in Winnipeg.
A new surgery clinic at Grace Hospital is now open, helping patients get assessed and treated faster while also easing pressure on emergency departments.
The Grace Hospital Surgery Clinic, located at Access Winnipeg West on the hospital campus, brings several surgeons together in one place so patients can move through the system more smoothly.
Here’s what the new clinic includes:
Eight exam rooms for consultations and follow-up appointments
A dedicated procedure room for minor surgeries
A setup that allows patients to receive consultations and follow up care without needing to go through the emergency department
For many families, it’s a practical step that could mean shorter wait times and quicker care when it’s needed most.

Manitoba Invests $2.5M In New Indigenous Mothering Centre
The Manitoba government is investing $2.5 million to help create a new Indigenous mothering centre in Winnipeg, designed to support mothers and babies during the early stages of parenthood.
The Mino’Ayaawag Ikwewag Mothering Centre, will provide a culturally grounded space where Indigenous mothers can stay with their babies while receiving care and support.
The funding will help purchase and renovate a home for the centre, which is expected to open this summer.
Here’s what the centre will offer:
Six living spaces where mothers and babies can stay for three to six months
Shared kitchen and dining areas for residents
Access to supports such as doulas, midwives, counselling, and life skills programs
The centre will also offer mental health, addictions, and cultural support rooted in traditional knowledge, helping mothers and babies stay together while receiving the care they need.

Looking for Local Vendors This Summer
If you run a local business and have been thinking about joining a market this summer, this might be one of the best opportunities to jump in.
Winnipeg Digest has partnered with The Locals for the second year to host a series of markets at Outlet Collection Winnipeg, and we’re looking for a few more vendors to join.
The markets run June 20–21, July 4–5, and August 8–9, bringing together local makers, boutiques, food vendors, service businesses, and more for a two-day weekend celebration of all things local.
Each market draws thousands of people, with food, drinks, music, kids activities, and plenty of locals coming out to shop.
It’s also one of the most affordable markets in the city, which is part of why spots are almost sold out.
If you run a local business or know someone who does, share this with them and have them apply before the remaining vendor spots are gone.
