Manitoba Restores Cardiac Centre at St. Boniface Hospital
If you've ever sat in a waiting room wondering when you’ll be seen, you know how much timely care matters. That's why this one hits close to home.
The province just announced a $22.1 million investment to rebuild the cardiac centre of excellence at St. Boniface Hospital, Manitoba's only site for adult inpatient cardiac care.
The program was once ranked among the best in Canada, but years of funding and staffing cuts chipped away at its capacity while the need for heart care only grew.
Here's what's included in the restoration:
19 new inpatient cardiology beds
A dedicated rapid cardiac assessment unit so patients with heart concerns can see a specialist faster, rather than waiting in the ER
More access to key procedures like catheterization and valve replacement
And a centralized office to coordinate care and reduce delays across the system
For families across Manitoba, this means shorter waits, faster answers, and more peace of mind knowing the care they need is close to home.
It's the kind of investment that quietly changes lives.

Restaurant of the Week:
Sun Fortune Restaurant

A Pembina Highway Staple That Keeps Regulars Coming Back
Some restaurants don't need flashy branding or a trendy location.
They just need great food and a kitchen that cares.
Sun Fortune is one of those places.
This family-run Hong Kong-style spot on Pembina Highway has been a go-to for regulars across the city for years. The menu is huge, with well over a hundred dishes, and the kitchen turns everything out fast and fresh.
A few dishes that locals keep coming back for:

Roast duck and BBQ pork on rice
Salt and pepper shrimp, crispy and well seasoned
Beef ho fun noodles with a rich, smoky flavour
Beef in Maggi sauce, a crowd favourite with regulars
It's the kind of place where tables are full by 6 p.m. on a weekend and regulars already know what they're ordering before they sit down.
If you're looking for a spot where the food speaks for itself and every dish feels made with real care, Sun Fortune is well worth the visit.
