Jets Whiteout Party Makes a Comeback

Get ready for the playoffs with the return of the famous Whiteout street parties! Starting April 17, grab your tickets for just $10 each. Half of that (5 dollars) goes straight to United Way Winnipeg to help folks in our community.

They're setting up big screens on Donald Street between Portage Avenue and Graham Street, where up to 5,000 fans can watch the Jets smoke their competition. And if you've got playoff tickets, you're all set—no need for extra tickets to join the street party fun!

That's not all. Check out the Party in the Plaza at True North Square too. Those tickets are $25, with another $5 helping United Way. The province and local businesses are chipping in to keep the party going strong, boosting the overall morale and supporting vital causes.

So, let's get together, Winnipeg! Cheer on the Jets and party for a good cause. Don't miss out on the action!

Support Local: Peckish Winnipeg

Peckish Winnipeg, is a premier charcuterie shop in town. Recently went above and beyond for a customer who needed a bunch of custom charcuterie boxes, like, ASAP.

After picking up their gorgeous, carefully assembled orders, this customer claimed fraud to their bank, ghosting Peckish completely. No calls answered, no emails returned. Ouch, right?

This kind of move hits our small businesses hard. They lose not just the materials and time, but there’s hardly any safety net to catch them. So if you can, drop by order a box (or two!), and show some love!

New Traffic Tech Decreases Emergency Response Time by 20%

Our city just kicked off a cool pilot project with some high-tech gear aimed at making our streets safer and faster for emergency responses. The new system lets first responders like ambulance and fire truck drivers flip some traffic lights to green as they zoom to calls. That means quicker help when seconds count!

This tech, known as the Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption (EVP) system, is up and running at 17 key intersections around Osborne Street. It cost the city $78,000 to set up, expecting it to cut down response times by about 20%.

For now, 15 emergency vehicles have the magic transponders that make traffic lights cooperate. After the pilot wraps in March 2025, the city will do the math to see if it’s worth expanding.
