Winnipeg's 2050 Transportation Plan
Winnipeg is gearing up for a major overhaul in how we get around town with the new "Transportation 2050" plan. This ambitious initiative aims to reshape our city’s travel landscape to support economic growth, sustainability, and make moving around easier for everyone.
The plan sets exciting targets, with these being the main four:
Economic Prosperity: Efficient movement of goods by air, rail, and truck
Mode Share: 50% of trips by walking, cycling, transit, and ride-sharing by 2050
Road Safety: 20% reduction in fatal and serious injury collisions by 2026
Accessibility and Equity: A transportation system accessible and affordable for all
The city is keen to hear from residents and is hosting six pop-up events until July 26 to gather feedback. There’s also a telephone town hall on July 24. After collecting input, the final plan will be presented to the city council this fall. Let’s get involved and help shape the future of Winnipeg’s transportation!

Enjoying amazing performances from big names like Killer Mike, and Mt. Joy. This year’s turnout beat the record from 2019 and proved once again that Folk Fest is a summer highlight for our city. Mark your calendars for next year's big 50th edition from July 10-13, 2025. You won’t want to miss it!
Jets Sign Heinola to Two-Year Extension
Great news for Jets fans! Defenceman Ville Heinola is sticking around, signing a two-year contract extension with the Winnipeg Jets worth $800,000 per year. Heinola, a former first-round pick, has been impressive both in the NHL and AHL. We're excited to see what he brings to the team in the coming seasons. Go Jets go!
Sea Bears Release Shane Osayande
The team has released forward Shane Osayande to shake things up and boost their playoff chances. Shane has been a part of the team for two seasons, and we thank him for his contributions.
