Manitoba Invests $5.2M In New Winnipeg Menopause Clinic
This is something a lot of Manitoba women have been waiting on for years.
The province is investing $5.2 million to open a new Manitoba Menopause Clinic in south Winnipeg, bringing back specialized care that was lost when a similar clinic closed back in 2017.
And it’s more than just reopening a service.
It’s about making sure women have the support they need during a stage of life that often gets overlooked.
Here’s what’s planned:
A full clinic at 1333 Kenaston Blvd, offering in-person and virtual care
A team of specialists, including doctors, nurses, dietitians, and more
Support all in one place, from treatment to counselling and education
For years, many women were left trying to figure things out on their own or waiting months for care.
This helps close that gap and bring everything back under one roof.
It’s a step forward for women’s health in Manitoba, and something that will make a real difference for many families.
P.S. Share this with the women in your life so they know better care is on the way!

A message from Canlan Sports!

A Summer Plan That Keeps Kids Active
Keeping your kids active and off screens all summer can be harder than it sounds…
And while there are plenty of camps out there, not all of them actually give kids something they learn and grow from.
That’s where Canlan Sports’ summer hockey camps come in.
It’s not just about filling time.
It’s about giving kids a place to move, learn, and feel more confident every week.
They stay active.
They improve their skills.
They make friends along the way.
And it all happens in a way that still feels fun.
Here's what they're offering this summer:
Full-day hockey development camps for kids who want to stay engaged and improve faster
Half-day fundamentals camps focused on skating, passing, and strong basics
Plus, 1-hour clinics that fit easily into your summer schedule
With a wide range of camps across different ages and skill levels, there's genuinely something for every family.
Programs run from July 6 to September 4. Spots fill fast every year, be sure to take a look early and reserve your spot.
It’s structured, it’s fun, and it gives your kids something to look forward to each week.
So if you’ve been looking for a way to keep your kids active this summer, this is it.

Lane Closure On Portage Avenue This Week
If you drive through downtown, this is good to know before you head out.
Westbound Portage Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Carlton and Edmonton until Friday, as crews install a large crane at the Portage Place site.
Here’s what to know:
Lane reduction on westbound Portage Ave (Carlton to Edmonton)
In effect until April 24, expect delays during the day
Consider alternate routes if you’re heading downtown
If you’ve been following the changes at Portage Place, this is part of that project. The crane installation marks the shift from tearing things down to starting construction on the new Health Care Centre of Excellence.
And once it’s complete, the space will include health services, housing, retail, and community areas, all in one place.
P.S. Share this with anyone you know who drives downtown, it might save them some time this week!
New Measles Exposure Location Reported In Winnipeg
Manitoba Health has reported a new measles exposure location in the city.
The exposure took place at the Health Sciences Centre Children’s Hospital emergency department (700 William Ave.) during the following times:
April 15 from 11AM to 3:50PM
April 18 from 11:05AM to 4:50PM
If you were there, it’s important to check your immunization status and make sure you’re protected.
And for those who aren’t vaccinated, there may be preventative treatment available within six days of exposure, so reaching out to a healthcare provider soon can make a difference.
Public health is also asking people to watch for symptoms and limit contact with others if needed, especially around young kids or anyone with a weaker immune system.
So it’s best to stay on top of the latest updates and exposure sites, so be sure to click the link below to see the most recent information.

One-Time Grocery Rebate Coming To Canadians This June

Source: Exchange District
There’s a bit of extra support coming just in time for summer.
Eligible Canadians will receive a one-time grocery rebate on June 5, meant to help with the rising cost of food and everyday essentials.
If you filed your 2024 tax return and were already receiving the GST credit earlier this year, you should automatically get this extra amount on June 5.
It’s essentially an extra amount added on top of your regular GST credit, equal to about half of what you normally receive.
It should come the same way your GST credit does, and in some accounts it may still show up under that name.
Here’s what to know:
Adds about 50% more to your usual GST payment
A family of four could receive up to $1,890 total this year
And a single person could receive up to $950 in 2026
And this isn’t just a one-time thing. Starting in July, payments will increase by 25% and continue every quarter for the next few years.
With grocery prices still high, this is one way to help make everyday costs a little more manageable.

Winnipeg’s Patio Season is Officially Here!
The weather has been all over the place lately, but with 23 °C and sun in the forecast today, it really does feel like summer is here.
And you know what that means… patio season is back!
Little Brown Jug just officially opened their patio for the season, and if you haven't been yet, this is your sign to change that.
Whether it's a quick drink after work or a long Saturday afternoon with friends, it's the kind of place you'll keep finding reasons to come back to.
A few things worth knowing before you go:
You can reserve their rooftop seating ahead of time (most people don't know this)
Way more than just beer. Featured cocktails, wine, radlers, slushies, new small-batch pilot brews, and all their core favourites on tap
Food that actually holds up. Think nachos, smokies, perogies, and charcuterie boards, with more rolling out all summer
And best of all? Easy parking in the lot next door on weekends, or after 5PM on weekdays, which honestly is a rare find in the Exchange
Spots like this don't stay quiet for long once the weather turns, and the best rooftop tables usually go first.
📍 336 William Ave
So grab a friend, clear a couple hours, and make it the start of your patio season.
