Premier Wab Kinew said last week that a large AI data centre, planned for 141 hectares of farmland just north of Ile des Chênes, will not go ahead.

The project came from two outside companies, one based in Las Vegas and one in Vancouver, and would have run on natural gas turbines next to a quiet rural community.

For the families who live nearby, this is a real relief.

No turbines running next door, no extra traffic, and no big change to the quiet rural life they were worried about losing.

It's the kind of good news that doesn't always make the headlines, but sure makes a difference close to home.

Big changes to how policing works don't usually come with an open invitation to weigh in. But, this one does.

Starting June 10, the Winnipeg Police Service is rolling out a six-month pilot that puts body cameras on a group of frontline officers.

Other police services in Manitoba, including the RCMP, already use them, and now Winnipeg is testing how they work here before making any long-term call.

The part worth noting is that the WPS isn't deciding this on its own. They're asking Winnipeggers and local organizations for input the whole way through.

Friday night had Bombers fans on the edge of their seats right down to the final seconds.

Winnipeg beat the Calgary Stampeders 30-28 on the road, and kicker Sergio Castillo booted a 38-yard field goal with just over a minute left to win it.
