Winnipeg's First Uniqlo Store Opens at CF Polo Park This May

It’s finally happening.

Uniqlo has confirmed the opening date for its first Winnipeg store, marking the brand’s long-awaited arrival in the city.

If you’ve never shopped there before, Uniqlo is known for simple, everyday clothing that’s easy to wear and made to last.

They focus on quality, comfort, and pieces you can use year-round, whether it’s basics or layers.

Here’s what to know:

  • Opens May 15, 10AM at CF Polo Park

  • Store will be around 18,000 square feet

  • Opening weekend will include giveaways, prizes, and in-store events

There’s also a Winnipeg-exclusive collection launching, featuring designs inspired by local spots like Gunn’s Bakery and Little Sister Coffee Maker.

And the best part? This is only one of two stores.

A second Uniqlo location is also planned for St. Vital Centre later this year, taking over the former Hudson’s Bay space.

If you’re curious to know what it’s about or what type of clothes they sell, click the link below to browse their pieces and see what you can expect.

NASA’s Orion Spacecraft Replica Is Coming To Winnipeg

Something pretty special is being built right here in Winnipeg.

Construction is officially underway at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada for a full-scale NASA Orion crew capsule replica, and it’s set to open this summer.

And this won’t just be something you look at.

It’s a walk-in, hands-on exhibit where you can actually step inside and experience what space travel feels like.

Here’s what makes it special:

  • Built to match the real Orion spacecraft used for lunar missions

  • Fully accessible and designed to be interactive

  • Created by the museum’s own restoration team right here in Winnipeg

It’s a rare chance to experience something like this up close, especially without leaving the city.

More than anything, this is about sparking curiosity, especially for young people who might be interested in science, space, or future careers in STEM.

Canada’s Gas Prices To Drop As Federal Fuel Tax Is Paused

There’s some relief coming at the pump starting next week.

The federal government is pausing part of the gas tax, which could lower prices by about 10 cents per litre for gas and 4 cents for diesel.

This starts April 20 and runs until September 7, covering most of the summer months.

Here’s what to know:

  • Applies to gas, diesel, and aviation fuel

  • Aims to lower everyday costs for drivers and businesses

  • Expected to bring $2.4 billion in savings across Canada

This comes as fuel prices have been rising due to global issues affecting oil supply.

And since this tax is already built into the price at the pump, the goal is to make everyday driving a bit more affordable, especially heading into summer.

Citywide Spring Cleanup Starts This Weekend

Source: City of Winnipeg

A little heads up for your street this weekend.

The City’s annual spring cleanup starts this Sunday, April 19, and crews will be working across Winnipeg over the next several weeks to clear out everything winter left behind.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Downtown cleanup blitz already underway, with crews sweeping sidewalks, cleaning graffiti, fixing signs, and freshening up public spaces

  • Street sweeping across the city, including roads, sidewalks, parks, and pathways

One thing to watch for is temporary no-parking signs on your street, and it’s a good idea to check the Know Your Zone app so you don’t get ticketed or towed.

There's also a live map that shows which streets are scheduled for cleaning in the next 24 hours and which ones are already done. Click below to check your street and stay ahead of it.
