Most of us never think about what happens after we flush the toilet, run the dishwasher, or do a load of laundry.

But behind the scenes, the North End Sewage Treatment Plant, Winnipeg's largest and oldest wastewater treatment facility, works around the clock to keep the city running and help protect our rivers.

Now, it's getting one of the biggest upgrades in its history.

The City of Winnipeg has awarded an $815 million contract to a team led by Aecon, alongside MWH Constructors and Oscar Renda Contracting, to upgrade the facility for the years ahead.

Construction will begin after the planning phase wraps up on what's become one of North America's largest water infrastructure projects. The upgraded facilities are expected to start operating in late 2030, with the entire project finished in 2031.

It's not the kind of project you get excited about, but one you’ll benefit from every day.

If you've been counting down to hockey season, today's the day you've been waiting for.

The Winnipeg Jets have officially released their full 84-game schedule for the 2026-27 season, so now's the time to start deciding which games you'll want to see in person.

The season starts at Canada Life Centre on Oct. 2 against the Boston Bruins, before the Jets head to Detroit two days later.

Fans also won't have to wait long for a pair of big matchups against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, with two games scheduled during the opening month.

Every game will also be available on TSN3, Rogers Sportsnet, Amazon Prime, and locally on 680 CJOB and Power 97.

There's nothing quite like the buzz of a new season. Fresh start, full arena, and a whole winter of hockey nights to look forward to with the people you love.

There's finally a way to get your first look inside Nonsuch's new Osborne location.

While the brewery is still putting the finishing touches on its full opening, a temporary bottle shop is now welcoming visitors, giving people an early chance to stop by the new location.

The bottle shop is open Wednesday to Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., making it the perfect place to pick up a few beers before dinner, or while you're spending an afternoon exploring Osborne Village.

If you're looking for the full Nonsuch experience, their original 125 Pacific Avenue brasserie is still serving its full food and drink menu.

Whether you're curious to see the new space or simply looking to take a few favourites home, it's a fun excuse to see what's new in Osborne Village before the grand opening arrives.

Four years go by faster than most of us realize. And now, Mayor Scott Gillingham is looking back at what his administration says has been accomplished since taking office.

A new progress report tracks the promises made during the 2022 election, highlighting what's been completed and where work is still underway.

Overall, the report shows that 57 of the mayor's promises have been delivered, with another 23 already in progress.

There's always more work to do, but it's nice to take a moment and see the progress that's been made. After all, every improvement, big or small, helps make Winnipeg an even better place to call home.
