Le Burger Week Runs Until September 7

Some weeks are made for stepping out of your food routine, and this is one of them. Le Burger Week is on now, and it’s one of those local events that just keeps getting better every year.

Restaurants across Winnipeg are rolling out one-off burgers you won’t find on the regular menu: some massive, some wild, and some surprisingly crazy. It’s a chance to taste something bold, support local kitchens, and chip in for a good cause, all at once.

  • Over 170 Winnipeg restaurants are participating this year

  • Every burger sold donates $1 to Food Banks Canada

  • Limited-time menus are available until Saturday, September 7

  • Many spots offer dine-in and takeout, so you’ve got options

  • You can vote online for your favourite burger of the week

Whether you try just one or make a list with your friends, it’s a fun excuse to explore the city in a new way, and maybe even find a new favourite neighbourhood spot.

Together with Cleanr Property Maintenance!

Discount on Lawn Care Services in Winnipeg

Winnipeg summers are made for family BBQs, backyard soccer games, and evenings on the deck. But if your yard’s looking a little tired after the season, now’s the best time to give it a boost so it’s ready for next spring.

Cleanr’s local team offers top dressing, aeration, overseeding, and fertilizer—everything your lawn needs to stay strong now and bounce back greener after winter.

Top dressing especially makes a big difference. By adding a thin layer of organic material, Cleanr helps your lawn:

  • Add nutrients back into the soil so grass grows stronger

  • Break down thatch so your lawn can breathe

  • Smooth out uneven patches for safer play and easier mowing

  • Improve drainage in clay or compacted soil

  • Give new seed the best chance to take root

Pair it with fall fertilizer, and you’ll see the payoff when the snow melts. And with Cleanr’s 200% satisfaction guarantee, you can trust the work will be done right or they’ll redo it at no cost.

This month, Winnipeg Digest readers also get 5% off all lawn care services. Book online today and give your family a yard to be proud of next spring.

City Updates

Last Week to Enjoy the City’s Spray Pads Before They Close

Source: City of Winnipeg

It feels like summer just flew by, doesn’t it? The nights are cooling down, the air feels a little crisper, and fall is already peeking around the corner. But there’s still one more week to squeeze in some water fun with the kids, or grandkids, before it’s gone for good.

  • All city spray pads will stay open until September 7

  • Free for everyone, with locations spread across Winnipeg

  • A great after-school stop or weekend outing for the whole family

These last days always feel a bit special. The kids get to squeal and splash like it’s still July, while parents and grandparents sit back, chat, and soak in the last of the sunshine. It’s simple, but it’s the kind of moment we look back on when winter feels too long.

Before we swap sprinklers for skates, take a little time to make one more summer memory together. These are the days that make Winnipeg summers worth remembering.

Sheila North Appointed as Winnipeg Police’s First Indigenous Relations Advisor

Source: University of Winnipeg

Some people carry a kind of steady strength, and Sheila North is one of them. This week, she stepped into a new role with the Winnipeg Police Service, becoming their first Indigenous relations advisor. It’s a big job, and one that means a lot to many in our city.

Sheila has spent years listening, speaking up, and standing beside families who’ve felt unheard. Now, she’ll be helping the police understand how to do better by Indigenous communities.

  • Sheila North is the former Grand Chief of MKO, and has deep roots in advocacy work

  • She’ll be advising police leadership on how to rebuild relationships with Indigenous people

  • She’s worked in journalism, politics, and with families of missing persons

  • Local leaders say she brings both care and courage to the role

  • Sheila says her focus is on making Winnipeg safer and more welcoming for everyone

There’s a long road ahead. But this is how it starts: building something better, together, with more conversations, more care, and more people like Sheila in the room.

It’s the kind of quiet progress that doesn’t always make headlines, but means a lot to the people who call this city home.
