Nuit Blanche is Back This Weekend!

Destination: Nuit Blanche

On the last Saturday of September, downtown turns into one big art walk. From light shows to live music, you’ll find surprises around every corner, and the best part is it’s all free.

Nuit Blanche has been a Winnipeg tradition since 2010, and every year it brings people together to see the city in a whole new way.

This year brings free installations and performances across Downtown and the Exchange, plus a complimentary trolley to connect the main zones. It’s a late-night celebration filled with art, energy, and community.

Must-see installations this year:

  • Cyrus enters Babylon at CMHR, a striking outdoor piece by Warren Carther

  • Flux at Old Market Square, an immersive light and sound experience from Ksawery Komputery

  • Fauna and Florescence at 100 Alexander ave, a garden of handcrafted floral lanterns and puppets

  • Wear Do Garments Gather? at Stephen Juba Park, a glowing forest of suspended garments made from salvaged fabrics

Tips to make the most of your night:

  • Plan a loose route with the map, but leave room for surprises

  • Dress for September nights: layers are your friend

  • Skip the solo drive if you can, and enjoy the walk, bike, or trolley

It’s one night where Winnipeg feels like a gallery without walls, full of art, light, and energy. Bring a friend, bring your family, or just wander. No matter how you do it, Nuit Blanche is a night worth being out for.

Last Chance to Prep Your Lawn for a Greener 2026

If you didn’t get around to giving your lawn much love this year, you’re not alone. Between summer plans and everything else, it’s easy for yard care to fall off the list. But fall is your last window to set things right, and give your lawn a real shot at coming back stronger next spring.

One of the best ways to do that? Core aeration. It’s simple, low-effort, and lays the foundation for healthy, resilient grass once the snow melts.

The best part? With Cleanr’s 200% satisfaction guarantee, you can trust the work will be done right. And if not, they’ll come back and make it right, no questions asked.

Here’s what fall aeration can do for your yard:

  • Loosens compacted soil, so roots get the oxygen and nutrients they need

  • Improves drainage and reduces water runoff

  • Boosts seed-to-soil contact, perfect if you’re overseeding this fall

  • Strengthens your lawn's root system so it bounces back faster next season

  • Prepares your yard for top dressing, fertilizer, and thicker growth come spring

Fall is the perfect time to aerate: warm soil, cool air, and just enough time for roots to settle in before the snow hits.

And this month, Winnipeg Digest readers get 5% off all lawn care services. Book online today and give your family a yard you’ll be proud of when spring comes around.

Winnipeg Teen Bailey Miller Raises $19,000 Through Brain Tumour Walk

As reported by CBC News, 17-year-old Bailey Miller has turned a very personal challenge into a way of lifting others up. Living with a brain tumour, Bailey found strength and support in the Brain Tumour Walk, and in the community that has rallied around her.

The Brain Tumour Walk is held every year to bring Canadians together in support of those facing a diagnosis, while raising funds for research and patient programs.

For Bailey, it wasn’t just about the money raised. It was about knowing she’s not alone in this fight.

Her impact this year:

  • Raised nearly $19,000 for the Brain Tumour Walk in Winnipeg, making her one of the top fundraisers in Canada

  • Joined thousands across the country walking to support research and resources for those living with brain tumours

  • Balanced school, competitive dance, and sports, showing strength well beyond her years

Bailey says the walk gave her more than just a way to raise funds; it gave her a community to lean on.

And as she steps into her Grade 12 year, another dance season, and plans for university, she’s showing all of us what resilience, hope, and togetherness can look like.

Two Arrests Made on First Day of Winnipeg Transit Safety Plan

If you’ve been following along, the city recently launched its new Transit Violent Crime Intervention Strategy: a plan aimed at making buses, stops, and transit hubs safer for everyone. And on its very first day, the results were already showing!

Here’s what happened:

  • Two arrests were made at Unicity Hub within just a few hours of each other

  • Morning incident: a man was stopped trying to board a bus with stolen property

  • Later that day: another man smashed a bus window and was arrested with a flammable liquid and lighter

  • Both men were charged and taken into custody

The strategy was created in response to a sharp rise in violent incidents on Winnipeg Transit over the past few years.

Seeing action and arrests right on day one is a strong sign that this approach could make a real difference for riders, operators, and everyone who relies on the system to get around.

Fall Updates for Families and Kids in Winnipeg

Source: City of Winnipeg

Fall routines can get busy fast, and it helps to know there are simple ways for kids to stay active and have fun. The City just shared a couple of updates worth marking down.

What’s new this fall:

  • More swimming lessons at Seven Oaks Pool have been added for October. If your child didn’t get a spot earlier, this is a second chance to dive in.

  • The Priceless Fun brochure is out, filled with free activities for kids and teens. From drop-in play to public skating, youth centres, and swimming, it’s all about giving families ways to connect without worrying about cost.

These may seem like small things, but together they make a difference. More chances for kids to play, more spaces for families to gather, and more ways to enjoy Winnipeg as the season shifts.

And if you’re looking for something fun for kids on weekends or after school…
