Winnipeg Struggles with Retail Crime

Retail crime has been tough on our local businesses, and it’s something we all feel. But the Manitoba government is stepping in to help make things safer. At the Retail Secure Manitoba Summit, business leaders, law enforcement, and the community came together to work on real solutions to reduce theft and crime.

From increasing private security to teaming up with the Winnipeg Police, these steps are all about protecting both businesses and shoppers. But it’s not just about what the government or police do. We, as a community, have a role to play too.

With the holiday season coming up, it's more important than ever to support our local businesses. When they thrive, it benefits the whole community, making it a safer, better place for all of us. So, as much as the government is stepping up, let’s do our part to shop local and keep Winnipeg strong this season!

More Car Ride Options Coming to Winnipeg

As reported by CBC News, Winnipeggers now have even more ways to get around with Lyft being approved to operate in the city. Alongside taxis and Uber, this means it’s even easier to grab a ride whenever you need one.

This is great news for everyone as riders get more options, better service, and lower prices. While drivers get another chance to earn extra cash with Lyft opening up more spots.

Whether you’re heading out for the day or just need a quick ride across the city, having more choices is definitely a win for Winnipeg!

The Ultimate Guide to Winnipeg Restaurants: 40+ Options

We don’t have a “Restaurant of the Week” today, but don’t worry, I’ve got something even better.

After visiting over 200 restaurants in Winnipeg (yeah, I’ve eaten a lot), I’ve put together the best guide for where to eat in the city. It’s fully revamped, more curated for you, and has over 40 spots, all split up by cuisine.

The best part? It’s totally free. I know not everyone can pay for a guide, so I wanted to make it accessible to everyone. But, I’d love your help in growing our amazing community. All you have to do is refer two people using the link below, and once they subscribe, the guide will be sent right to you automatically. We’ll also keep adding to it over time, so you’ll always have fresh picks.

If you enjoy reading the Winnipeg Digest and think we bring value, your referral would mean the world to us. Thanks for sticking with us!

P.S. If you’ve already referred two people, just reply to this email with their email addresses, and I’ll personally send you the guide!

World Traveler Calls Winnipeg Home

It’s always special when someone from far away recognizes how great our city is. After traveling to over 80 countries, filmmaker Karl Watson chose Winnipeg—of all places—as his new home.

As reported by Global News, He’s lived in London for years, but it was Winnipeg’s sense of community that won him over.

Watson’s video explaining why he moved here has gone viral, and it’s so refreshing to see Winnipeg getting love on a global scale. While others may not always see what we do, Watson’s message is clear: Winnipeg has something truly special that you won’t find anywhere else. His story is a reminder that our community, friendliness, and the warmth we share as Winnipeggers can make this city a place to be proud of!

Bombers Clinch Home Playoff Game!

Source: Bombers X

The Blue Bombers keep on rolling! After a big 31-10 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Bombers have now clinched a home playoff game. This is their eighth straight win—talk about momentum!

Brady Oliveira led the charge again, and our defense showed up in a big way. But we’re not just winning games, we’re locking in home-field advantage, which makes a huge difference come playoff time.

With this victory, Winnipeg football fans can look forward to more action on home turf. It’s an exciting time to be a Bombers fan, and it feels like we’ve got something special brewing this season!

WestJet’s Big Boost for Winnipeg Travel

Big news for anyone traveling in or out of Winnipeg—WestJet is expanding its service by 21% in 2024! This means more flights to more destinations, with 22 cities on the list this winter, including new routes to Atlanta, Los Cabos, and Nashville. Whether you’re flying for business or a quick getaway, this boost in service is great for our community.

For a city like Winnipeg, having these travel options really opens up opportunities and makes life easier for frequent flyers. It’s exciting to see WestJet’s commitment to our city and how they’re making it easier for all of us to explore beyond Manitoba.
