Midweek check-in, Winnipeg!
Did any of you catch the northern lights last night? They lit up the sky across the city and wow, what a show. We got tons of photos from readers in St. Vital (you lucky ones!), but they were visible all over Winnipeg.
We’d love to know how many of you saw them, too. Just hit reply and tell us “Yes, I did!” and if you want, mention which area you were in when you spotted them.
Here’s a shot from last night’s incredible display:

Provide Feedback on Winnipeg’s Newest Library

Source: City of Winnipeg
If you love a good library day, here’s your chance to help shape one from the start. The City of Winnipeg is asking residents to share their ideas for the new Mike O’Shaughnessy Library, coming to Garden City Shopping Centre in late 2026.
From now until December 3, you can help decide how the space will look, feel, and inspire future readers by voting on the library’s theme: technology, gardens, or seasons, and share feedback on design and public art ideas.
You can take part by completing the online survey before December 3, or by stopping by the pop-up event at Garden City Shopping Centre on November 26 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The new branch will expand library services for northwest Winnipeg — a place for creativity, learning, and connection.
So if you’d like to learn more about the new library and share your thoughts, click the link below to provide your feedback and help shape Winnipeg’s newest library.

City Updates
New Holocaust Curriculum Now Taught in Manitoba Schools
Starting this year, Manitoba students in Grades 6, 9, and 11 will begin learning about the Holocaust as part of a new mandatory social studies curriculum.
The change aims to help young Manitobans understand the importance of empathy, human rights, and standing against hate.
Here’s what the new program includes:
Holocaust lessons woven into social studies for Grades 6, 9, and 11
Teaching resources created with the Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada
Stories and materials by Canadian and Manitoba authors
With a focus on inclusion, unity, and democracy
The curriculum was built to give students a deeper understanding of one of history’s darkest chapters, and to spark important conversations about courage, humanity, and what it means to stand up for others.
It’s a meaningful step toward raising a generation that not only remembers the past but carries its lessons forward: choosing empathy, courage, and kindness in the world they build next.

The Grey Cup has officially touched down in Winnipeg, quite literally. It arrived in style this past weekend, flown in by Canadian Armed Forces helicopter and delivered right to The Forks, marking the start of a full week of Grey Cup celebrations across the city.
Here’s what fans can look forward to before the big game:
CFL Awards – celebrating the league’s top talent
Coors Light Concert Series – live music at the RBC Convention Centre

And lastly, the main event: The 112th Grey Cup – hosted at Princess Auto Stadium on Nov. 16 at 5 p.m., featuring the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders
From the sky to the stadium, this week is all about football, community, and Canadian pride. Even if you’re not watching the game, it’s hard not to feel the energy building around the city.
It’s shaping up to be one of those classic Winnipeg weeks where the whole city comes together to celebrate.
