Restaurant of the Week: Parcel Pizza

Parcel Pizza Website

Let’s dive into Parcel Pizza at 221-A Stradbrook Ave…

A spot where the pizza is as fun as the vibe. Yes, the pizzas here are a bit of a splurge (around $32 each), but let’s be real, sometimes you’ve just got to treat yourself.

This place is all about unique flavors that’ll make you rethink what pizza can be. Ever tried a Spicy Dill Pickle pizza? Or how about the Nandor with its chili oil and basil combo? These aren’t your average slices; they’re packed with personality and a little bit of wow.

And the location? Super aesthetic. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back with friends, enjoy some seriously good pizza, and soak in the laid-back atmosphere. So, if you’re in the mood to try something new and don’t mind spending a little extra for a killer experience, Parcel Pizza is definitely worth a visit. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

City Updates:

More Funding to Fight Crime in Winnipeg

You know we usually skip the crime talk, but with the uptick in the past few years, it's worth mentioning that the Manitoba government is stepping in with some serious backup.

They’re providing an extra $774,000 to help the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) tackle those tough spots around town. So, don’t be surprised if you see more police out and about—that’s the city working to keep things safer for all of us, whether you’re running errands or just enjoying a walk downtown. It’s part of a bigger push to keep Winnipeg secure while working on some long-term fixes too.

Home Grown Tree Planting Grant Now Open

The 2025 Home Grown Grant applications are officially open, with up to $20,000 available for community tree planting projects. This is part of Winnipeg’s bigger plan, backed by the Government of Canada’s Two Billion Trees Program, which pumped $7 million into the city over five years to grow our urban forest.

So, if you’re part of a community group, this is your chance to bring some extra greenery to those parts of Winnipeg that need it most. The deadline to apply is November 12, 2024, so there’s plenty of time to get your neighborhood looking a little leafier.

Police Cars Might Get a Makeover

As reported by CTV News, there’s a push at city hall to make Winnipeg’s police cars more visible by giving them a colorful new look. Inspired by a similar project in Barrie, Ontario, the idea is to repaint a few cruisers with bright, checkered patterns. The goal? To make police presence more obvious, especially in bad weather, and to let everyone know the police are out there keeping our streets safe. Keep an eye out for these potential new rides!

Firefighters Tackle Three Blazes in Two Hours

Saturday night was a whirlwind for Winnipeg’s firefighters, who tackled three separate fires across the city in just two hours. We often think these everyday heroes go unnoticed, so we wanted to take a moment to shout them out.

Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt, and the fires were quickly brought under control. As always, the crews were on the scene, keeping our community safe.

Goldeyes Clinch Division Title

Source: Goldeyes X

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are back on top! They clinched the West Division title with an 11-9 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs. After a tough season last year, this victory marks their first division title since 2017. With the playoffs on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to be a Goldeyes fan. Let’s cheer them on as they go for the championship!

Health Care Workers in Manitoba Ready to Strike

Health care support workers across Manitoba are gearing up for potential strike action after rejecting a proposed agreement. These are the folks who keep things running smoothly in our hospitals and health centers, and they’re saying enough is enough.

The last agreement expired in March, and they’re pushing for better conditions and pay. It’s a critical time for health care in the province, and this move shows just how serious these workers are about getting the support they need. Stay tuned—this could have a big impact on health care services in the coming weeks.
