🧊 Jets vs Blues – Full Round 1 Schedule

The Jets are taking on the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs—our first playoff matchup since 2019, when the Blues knocked us out and went on to win it all.

But this time? We’ve got the edge. The Jets took the season series 3-1 and are coming in as the top team in the West.

Here’s the full schedule:

  • Game 1: Saturday, April 19 at 5:00 p.m. (Canada Life Centre)

  • Game 2: Monday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. (Canada Life Centre)

  • Game 3: Thursday, April 24 at 8:30 p.m. (Enterprise Center)

  • Game 4: Sunday, April 27 at 12:00 p.m. (Enterprise Center)

  • Game 5: Wednesday, April 30 (Canada Life Centre, if needed)

  • Game 6: Friday, May 2 (Enterprise Center, if needed)

  • Game 7: Sunday, May 4 (Canada Life Centre, if needed)

Tickets for Game 1, Game 2, and the Whiteout Street Party sold out within minutes. So if you didn’t get a chance to grab one yet, fingers crossed you can still find a way in as we make this playoff run!

Connor Hellebuyck Named NHL’s Top Goalie (Again)

Let’s take a moment for Connor Hellebuyck.

He just won the William M. Jennings Trophy for the second year in a row. That’s the award given to the goalie who helps their team allow the fewest goals during the regular season.

He helped the Jets allow just 191 goals this season, the fewest in the entire league. Oh, and let’s not forget, we also finished 1st in the Central and brought home the Presidents’ Trophy too.

Long story short, we’re heading into the playoffs with the best goalie in the league. So let’s hope we can carry this momentum all the way and bring the Cup home!

A message from Manitoba Dental Association

Find the Perfect Dentist in Winnipeg

Most of us grew up knowing the basics. Brush before bed, maybe floss here and there, and just hope we don’t hear the word “cavity” at our next checkup.

But let’s be real. Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect dentist. Life gets busy, appointments get pushed off, and before you know it, you’re scrolling TikTok for dental tips instead of actually seeing someone you trust.

That’s why this Oral Health Month, the Manitoba Dental Association is helping folks across the province get back to the basics with their Healthy Habits, Healthy Smiles campaign.

It’s all about the simple stuff. Brushing and flossing daily, skipping the risky trends, and making regular dentist visits part of your routine again. Nothing fancy, just the stuff that works.

And if you’re not sure where to go, they’ve made it easy to find a dentist based on your neighbourhood, the services you need, and even your language preference.

So if you’ve been meaning to book that appointment, now’s a great time to do it. Your future self (and your teeth) will definitely thank you.

🚲 City of Winnipeg to Auction 600 Bikes

If you’ve been thinking about getting a new bike this spring, here’s your chance to score one without breaking the bank.

The City’s annual bike auction is back, and this year, over 600 bicycles are going up for grabs. Many of them were abandoned or unclaimed and have now been given new life, thanks to WRENCH, who tuned up about 200 of them to make sure they’re ready to ride.

The Details:

  • Bikes can be viewed online now

  • Bidding runs from April 24 to May 1

  • Pickup is May 2–9 at 7130 Roblin Blvd

  • Payment options: card, e-transfer, Interac, or cash

Whether you’re commuting, cruising, or just getting back into biking, this is a solid way to find your next ride and support a program that keeps good bikes out of the landfill.

City Golf Courses Opening up This Weekend!

Source: City of Winnipeg

You know spring’s really here when the golf courses open.

The City just announced that tee times start this Saturday, April 19, and for those itching to swing the clubs, you can book now. This year, there's even a new addition with Canoe Club Golf Course (50 Dunkirk Dr.) joining the lineup.

Here’s what to know:

  • Courses opening: Canoe Club, Crescent Drive, Kildonan Park, and Windsor Park

  • Tee time reservations are now open online, by calling the pro shops, or 311

  • Spring green fee discounts are available at Kildonan Park and Windsor Park until May 2

If you’re ready to shake the rust off your swing and enjoy the sunshine, this is your sign. The fairways are calling. Also, if you’re reading this and your partner’s been waiting for this moment all winter, go ahead and share it with them!

City Updates

New Program Could Help Build 1,200 Homes

Finding a place to live in Winnipeg hasn’t been easy lately, but there’s a new program that might help change that.

The City just announced a $12 million plan to help build up to 1,200 new homes, focusing on areas that can’t currently support new development because the infrastructure just isn’t there.

Through the new Multi-Family Sustainable Housing Infrastructure Program (MSHIP), the City will partner with developers to improve water, drainage, and wastewater systems so more high-density, sustainable housing can be built.

Here’s how it works:

  • Developers can apply for up to $10,000 per unit to cover infrastructure upgrades

  • The goal is to unlock housing in areas that have long been held back by limited capacity

  • Applications open this summer, with approvals expected by December

It’s a smart move, and hopefully a big step toward getting more Winnipeggers into homes they can actually afford.

Spring COVID-19 Vaccine Program Starts May 1

If you or someone in your family is at higher risk for COVID-19, there’s a chance to get an extra layer of protection this spring.

Manitoba’s targeted spring vaccination program will run from May 1 to June 30, offering another dose to those most at risk of serious illness. The timing is meant to help people stay protected during the summer months, when cases might start to rise again.

Here’s who can get an extra dose (as long as it’s been 3+ months since your last):

  • Adults 65+

  • Indigenous people 45+

  • Residents of long-term care homes

  • People 6 months and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised

For kids under 12, vaccines are only available until June 14, due to supply expiry. After June 30, shots will only be given in special cases.

The vaccine is free, and you can get it at clinics, pharmacies, or public health offices.
