Your Chance to Rename a Winnipeg School
Happy Friday, Winnipeggers!
Some weekends just feel more meaningful than others, and this is one of them. With President Trump announcing new tariffs earlier this week, Sunday’s Rally for Canada at the Legislative Building could not be coming at a better time. It is a chance for all of us to come together, show our pride, and stand up for what it means to be Canadian.
But if you are looking for other ways to spend the weekend, spring events are starting to pick up too. A few local markets are popping up around the city. Perfect for a family outing or just getting out for something light and local.
In today’s edition:

Reminder: Manitoba is Hosting a Rally for Canada This Sunday
There’s a certain pride that comes with calling this city home. It’s not just about where we live, it’s about who we are. The people. The stories. The quiet strength that shows up when it really counts.
And this Sunday, as we mentioned in Monday’s edition, we’ll be showing that pride loud and clear.
After the U.S. president suggested Canada should become the 51st state (yep, that happened), Manitoba is hosting a Rally for Canada. It’s our chance to stand tall, celebrate what makes this country home, and remind the world that we’re proud to be Canadian.
And hey, we’ll be there too. So if you see us, come say hi!

A message from Neighbours Window Cleaning!

A message from your Neighbours (literally)
Let’s be real. Most people don’t get excited about window cleaning.
But Christian did.
He was just a university student with a ladder, a bucket, and a dream to bring better service to the block. So he started by knocking on doors, and his first 24 customers were his actual neighbours. That’s how Neighbours Window Cleaning was born.
Since then, hundreds of Winnipeg homes have seen the difference a caring, local team can make. No rushed jobs. No streaks left behind. Just the kind of care you’d expect from someone living next door.
Here’s what you can expect
Fast replies and upfront pricing
Reminder texts before arrival
Unlimited free streak touch-ups within 48 hours
Screen cleaning and pressure washing options
So, whether you’re booking for spring or sending them to your parents place, Neighbours Window Cleaning makes the process easy and reliable from start to finish.
If you’re looking to support local, help a young entrepreneur, or just want your home to feel fresh again for the summer, Neighbours Window Cleaning is a great place to start.

Community Digest
Your Chance to Help Rename a Winnipeg School
Growing up in Winnipeg, school names were just something we memorized for directions or report cards. But names carry weight. They tell stories, shape identity, and reflect the values of a community. And now, we’ve got a chance to be part of that story.
As reported by CTV News, the Winnipeg School Division is officially looking for public input to rename Wolseley School, which was named after a British general tied to the Red River Rebellion. They’re hoping to choose a name that reflects the neighbourhood, inspires learning, and includes everyone, without being named after a person.
If you’ve got a thoughtful name idea that honours the spirit of our community, now’s the time to share it.
📝 Here’s what to know:
Submissions are open until April 7
Ideas should reflect the neighbourhood and student learning
All languages are being considered
But, please avoid names of people
Three finalists will be chosen, and the community will help narrow it down from there.
Let’s help choose a name that future generations will be proud of. And let’s hope more school divisions follow their lead. It’s a great way to get the community involved.

Also performing: Tyler Hubbard, Nate Smith, and Madeline Merlo
🎤 And the night before:

City Updates
Manitoba Puts $150 Million Toward Supporting Farmers 🌾
We know this might not affect everyone directly, but it still matters. Farming is a big part of who we are in Manitoba, and right now, farmers are facing a lot of uncertainty.
With trade pressures and rising costs, the province is stepping in with new support.
📦 What’s Included Right Now:
First, 10 million in new matching funds for the federal AgriStability program
On top of that, 140.8 million going toward AgriInsurance, AgriInvest, and Wildlife Damage Compensation
📈 And What’s Planned for the Months Ahead:
An extra 100 million set aside in Budget 2025, in case tariffs from the US hit harder
Continued work to cut red tape and grow Manitoba’s food processing sector
And most importantly, a commitment to working directly with farmers to guide future policy
Farming might not be part of our daily routine, but it’s part of our foundation. And it’s good to see it getting the support it deserves!
New Fire and Paramedic Station Now Open in Windsor Park

Source: City of Winnipeg
There’s something reassuring about knowing help is nearby. Whether it’s a fire, a medical emergency, or something in between, having the right team close by makes all the difference.
That’s why it’s great to see Windsor Park’s new fire and paramedic station now up and running.
Here’s what to know:
Location: 1083 Autumnwood Drive
Crews are now responding 24/7 from this station
It includes a fire engine, a rescue team, an ambulance, a fire investigator, and the hazmat team
And later this spring, the city will be hosting a public open house and a commissioning ceremony so folks can see the space up close.
It’s always a good day when a neighbourhood gets safer.
